DDJ/CD Release 12 About this CD-ROM _________________ Welcome to DDJ/CD Release 12, which contains articles from Dr. Dobb's Journal from January 1988 through December 2001. These articles are presented in HTML format, along with published and unpublished source code and related files. This CD-ROM is browsable with any frames-capable, java-enabled web browser on any platform that can read ISO 9660-format CD-ROMs with either Joliet or Rockridge extensions. There are several important subdirectories on this CD-ROM: * The "source" directory includes archives of published and unpublished source code from Dr. Dobb's Journal. The naming conventions for the subdirectories is by year (e.g, 1998) and year/month (e.g., 9801 for January 1998). Archived files are in text (.TXT) and compressed (.ZIP or .ARC) format. Archives include a README file describing the subdirectory's content. * The "utils" directory includes utilities for extracting the ZIP or ARC archives. Compression/extraction utilities are available for a number of platforms, including DOS, Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX. Using the CD ____________ You will need a Java-enabled frames-capable browser. The search applet works best with Versions 4 and above of Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Start your browser, and open the file "start.htm" (found in the root level of the CD-ROM). From there, you may browse articles or source code by year and issue using the navigation frame on the left side of the page, or you may perform a search by choosing Search from the navigation bar on the top.
