They will not perform if copied to your hard drive unless you copy the entire CD-ROM (150 MB). You can exit the Introduction by clicking anywhere in the window. Inactivity for 5 minutes will automatically return the CD-ROM to the Introduction. The introduction ends at the Main Menu where you can choose the Family of Microcontrollers of interest and navigate to the Technical Documentation on-line in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format. Use the scrolling arrows on the Documentation pages to view additional files. By clicking on a Document with a .pdf File Name, the presentation will pause and Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 will launch (if installed) the highlighted file. After viewing the Document please "QUIT" Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 and click on the desktop to return to the CD presentation. Some Documents are not available in .pdf format on this CD and are noted by the words "Ordering Information" in the Document list. These can be ordered by phone, or through an InterNet Web Form that is accessed from the "Contacts" section of this CD. You will need the Document Number from the list to order the materials. Likewise, from the "Contacts" section of this CD you can link to the InterNet Web Sites of Motorola, it's Developers and Distributors. Clicking on a URL address will launch your browser and with proper connections present the Location. After viewing the Location please "QUIT" your Browser and click on the desktop to return to the CD presentation. If you want to close your connection, please do so before returning to the CD. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Using the Alternate Method --------------------------------------------------------------------- The "MOTOROLA CD" and the "MOTOROLA.EXE" files are designed for MAC and PC users only. An Alternate Method is available for MAC, PC, and the UNIX user via Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 and the "MOTOROLA.PDF. The MOTOROLA.PDF has the same basic navigation to the Families of Microcontrollers and provides access to the Documents and URL Locations. The WebLink plug-in installed with Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 is needed to launch your Browser and navigate to the URL's. Please refer to the on-line documentation of Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 for information about the WebLink plug-in. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.1 Performance --------------------------------------------------------------------- Windows 3.1, Windows 95, or Windows NT users: After choosing a .pdf or URL please allow the program to complete its launch before quitting the application and returning to the CD. It is not necessary that you QUIT Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 after each document. The CD presentation uses a custom color pallet to display the screens. It should release this custom pallet when launching an external application. Clicking on the desktop during the external application's launch will reset the pallet of the CD causing the screens to display wrong. If this happens exit the CD and if necessary use the control panel\display to reset your desktop. For best performance, leave the Adobe Acrobat Reader open and switch back to the CD-ROM interface (this can be done with the key combination "Alt+Tab"). Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 has a ten-document limit. Close Acrobat Reader or press "Ctrl-W" to close individual documents when Acrobat hits this limit. Macintosh Users: You will need to "QUIT" Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 and/or your Browser after viewing each document or location. Each selection of a Document or Location launches the external application. You can not have multiple instances of the same application open on the MAC, so if you don't "QUIT" the open application before returning to the CD the next request for a launch will fail. You can use the finder to "QUIT" the open application and then choose the Document or Location again after returning to the CD. The CD presentation uses a custom color pallet to display the screens. It should release this custom pallet when launching an external application. Clicking on the desktop during the external application's launch will reset the pallet of the CD causing the screens to display wrong. If this happens exit the CD and if necessary use the control panel: monitors to reset your desktop. Macintosh running the RAM-Doubler extension - RAM-Doubler should be turned off. Macintosh using virtual memory - Virtual Memory should be turned off for optimal performance. Macintosh "-108" error Out of Memory - Close other programs and try again or use the Alternate Method and the MOTOROLA.PDF All systems: Shutting down all other programs including networks and unnecessary extensions will improve performance. --------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.0 Contacting Motorola --------------------------------------------------------------------- Visit us on the Web at: http://www.mcu.motsps.com/mail.html Telephone (800) 441-2447 (303) 675-2140 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 Disclaimers and Trademarks --------------------------------------------------------------------- Motorola reserves the right to make changes without further notice to any products herein.
