TARGET CABLE ACCESSORIES
Emulator-target connections.
FLEXIBLE PCB
CABLES
The target cables serve as the interface between the emulator (MMEVS or MMDS) and the MCU socket in the user's system. Each target cable consists of two or three separately purchased components: flexible PCB cable, target head adapter, and surface mount adapter, if needed.
CABLE FEATURES
- Five cables support all package types and pincounts of 68HC(7)05 and 68HC(9)08 microcontrollers
- Combination of flexible and rigid PCB technologies for stronger target-emulator connection without sacrificing cable flexibility
- Impedance-matched to improve signal quality
- Redundant grounds to reduce electromagnetic interference, ground path impedance, and crosstalk
- 15" (390 mm) cable length
TARGET HEAD
ADAPTER
The device-specific target head adapter completes the target cable ensemble by rerouting the cable signals to match the footprint of the target device.
SOIC SURFACE MOUNT
ADAPTER
A SOIC target connection requires a DIP to SOIC surface mount adapter. The SOIC surface mount adapter solders to the user's target system and accepts a DIP target head adapter using an integral DIP socket. Additional SOIC adapters are required for use in more than one target system.
QFP SURFACE MOUNT
ADAPTER
A QFP target connection requires a target adapter, one QFP surface mount adapter (TQPACK), and one TQSOCKET with guide pins. The TQPACK solders to the user's target system. The TQSOCKET fits between the TQPACK and the target adapter to protect the TQPACK pins from damage. All QFP target adapters include one TQPACK and one TQSOCKET. Additional TQPACKs and TQSOCKETs may be purchased separately for use in more than one target system.*
*Refer to the MCU Development Tools Guide (see left nav bar) for a current list of target cable accessories.
