Neuron Chip - Introduction

The Neuron Chip contains three 8-bit CPUs, on-board memory, general purpose I/O pins, and a complete, interoperable implementation of the ANSI/EIA709.1-A-1999 Control Network Protocol standard.

Neuron Chips provide the logic for Echelon’s LonWorks control networks, an open, interoperable control networking standard that enables users to connect a broad range of LonWorks compatible products — from motors, switches, and valves, to security systems, light switches, and heating and air-conditioning systems — in a peer-to-peer networked environment.

Example for Building Automation:

Toshiba has been a Neuron Chip partner since the introduction of Neuron Chips in 1992.
