Has anyone ever played around inside a Mazda (Nippon Denso) MECSII PCM from a 1993 or 1994 Mazda (or in my case, Ford - 1994 Probe GT) vehicle? I have an 86 2.8L Blazer ECU and I blew the service engine light buffer somehow. Now, I can't get the error codes out of the ECU! If anyone knows where to get a schematic I'd be much appreciated. Is it my imagination or has the messages comming from the efi and diy server started to have very long headers on them. Messages I receive from others are just a 3 line header and then the body of the message, the ones from these lists are a good half page of received by this and received from that before the body of the message. Anyone else have this problem ? I'm sure the messages weren't like this 6 months ago. 2. Has this list been extremely quiet the last couple of weeks, I'm sure there used to be more than 8'ish messages a day ? Or am I just not getting all of them ? Which means you may not want to play with the EEC. > Actually, the car in question (my 1994 Probe GT) has a normally aspirated 24V DOHC V6. No turbo...it was the previous generation GT that had the turbo. The engine is a 2.5L unit and is built by Mazda. The car itself is basically a Mazda MX-6 with Ford bodywork, interior and suspension tuning. The engine and engine control system is Mazda's MECS-II system. I'm "hacking" it more for fun than anything. When I say hacking, I mean disassembling the program code, determining memory mapping, peripheral chip functions, logic flow etc. I've already got quite a bit of the hardware figured out and just wanted to know if anyone else had been working along the same lines. Lot's of people hack GMs ALDL (for instance) but I've seen very little discussion of this nice little ECM. Thanks for the reply. - - Mike - ------------------------------------------ 1994 Probe GT Leather/PMoonroof/5-speed "You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hurl..." - ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ From: wstrass@xxx.com Date: Wed, 6 Aug 1997 12:58:32 -0400 Subject: Advice: MAT and MAP To: DIY --INTERNET DIY From: Wayne Strasser (CED) _______________________________________________________________________ Subject: Advice: MAT and MAP Hello everyone. I am a new member, so forgive me if this topic has been beaten into the ground. I noticed (while going through archive searches) that there have been MANY emails written on various MAP and MAT sensors. Could someone tell me what is the best out there now and give me some info on them, in terms of noise sensitivity, repeatability, power consumption, etc. Thanks for any and all advice. _______________________________________________________________________ Wayne Strasser Polymer Development wstrass@xxx.com ------------------------------ From: Joe Boucher Date: Wed, 06 Aug 1997 21:55:51 -0500 Subject: July "Hot Rod" For an EFI novice such as myself, there was a great article in the July "Hot Rod" about hacking the proms in GM computers and a company selling a software package to assist in remapping a prom. It has been quiet lately, but I am not getting a slew of bounces here at admin central, so I am assuming everything is still working, just less activity on the list. Personally, I have been working in the shop and outside and have been putting in way less screen time since we have been having nice weather for a change. - -j- ------------------------------ End of DIY_EFI Digest V2 #261 ***************************** To subscribe to DIY_EFI-Digest, send the command: subscribe diy_efi-digest in the body of a message to "Majordomo@xxx.
