It contains RAM, SCI & SPI ports, 11 I/O bits, COP watchdog, and a periodic interrupt timer. I think you dropped a digit from the part number. I've seen four different numbers used: 16034980, 16069564, 16079434, 16139860. The '34980 contains 512 bytes of SRAM, the '139860 might have a full 1K. > U9 45148 Delco IC GM custom timer chip, something like the TPU in a 68332. > U10 34988 Has ouput of MAP sensor connected > to pin 18 via 18K resistor. U13 Off the shelf high side driver (for fuel pump relay). NatSemi has something like this. Siemens has a device that is even a better match. U3 & U6 Quad drivers. These might be GM custom because I haven't found any standard parts with this pinout. U1 Power supply - this might be GM custom too. You forgot about U12. It is a 16034984, 16052444, or 16079435. It has an SPI I/O port, the EST interface circuit, the Peak+Hold injector driver controller, and some random signal buffers. > If any one can help me or can tell me where I can obtain data > sheets on these IC's please rely to me on the email address below NatSemi and TI have data available on the net (for the industry standard parts.) > Also I found,on this ecu, that the bolts that earth out the heat > sink are not doing there job properly, ie. the heat sink was not earthed. > Any ideas on what will happen in this case ?? will the ecu still work ?? GM doesn't appear to rely on the heat sink being grounded (earthed?). Witness the insulator on some of the components. TIA Bruce ------------------------------ From: Roger Heflin Date: Wed, 10 Feb 1999 14:16:58 -0600 (CST) Subject: Re: LT1 (93+) Ignitions I don't know what signals the computer wants. Electromotive has a computer/circuit that fakes the proper signals from a crank trigger to make the computer happy. I believe the opti-eliminator as it is called cost about $300 or so. With both the coils, crank trigger, and faker the entire setup is $799. The opti-eliminator has 3 wires (or wire bundles) going out of it. One goes to the crank trigger, one goes to the coil pack controls, and one goes back to the stock opti computuer. I would guess since the signals are going straight into the computer (I believe they are) that the signals are standard 5-v cmos like voltage levels. There may be some stuff in the opti to actually clean up the signals before sending them. I believe both the low res and high res signals are basically crank trigger signals, each optical wheel has a different number of teeth. Someone on the f-body group (Mike Chaney, The one with the in car dyno software) has a disection of the optispark on his web page, you may be able to tell something about it from that. You may also want to ask him, since he has had one completely disassembled. If you want I can look in my service manual and see exactly what it says, I believe it gives some details on the signals that can be checked, and also I can look at the computer code running that sort of stuff. The service manual tends to give some pretty detailed info on some things. The high resolution is a simple square wave, with identical on/off duty, while the low resolution has different on times for each pulse (again, square), telling the PCM which cylinder is currently being fired.
