Haven't been doing it that long, (only 29) but I have been doing it to my Muncie M22 for over 8 years. It's all in timing. Your are right, syncros don't like the abuse, especially behind a 454, shifting at 7500. Muncies inheritantly eat 3rd up first for some reason. Jerico makes a 4 speed that is clutchless. Can exactly remember how it works, but it somehow during the shift locks both gears, and then slides off. G-force also makes a 5 speed shiftless trans. Looking into replacing mine with one of G-forces. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 16 Apr 1999 19:40:24 -0500 From: "Chris G. Its called a VATN turbo -Variable Area Turbine Nozzle. Essentially the turbine is made of many vanes that change their angle in the exhaust stream. It functions like many different sized turbos all in one unit, ie. it makes boost at lower rpm because of the variable area turbine, but still can have the capacity to make boost at high rpm. It's VATN--for Variable Area Turbine Nozzle. Garrett is getting some of them to market, and Aeorcharger is making some BEAUTIES--with ball bearings, independent oil supply, and so on. Full torque/boost up by 1300 or 1500 rpm, and WAY more efficient than even a screw compressor type supercharger (such as a Whipple).
