Subject: Accel DFI hookup I own an 81 Nissan 280zx L28ET turbo motor inline 6 . I am buying a used Accel DFI system that was hooked up to a chev V8 . The Nissan motor came with a factory crank angle sensor, it has two types of teeth main set of teeth every 20 degrees and 3 big ones at 120 degrees . There is an inductive pickup mounted on this sensor with 3 magnets .. 1) Can this crank trigger be used on the Accel DFI? A guy runs same system but with a normal 280zx distributor for sensing igntion timing 2) Is there some sort of inductive pickup used in the distributor ? Someone else is trying to use Accel DFI with same motor only he is trying to hook up GM coilpacks to fire the plugs . 3) What is involved in making DFI fire coilpacks, is there a wiring diagram available for this . I am buying a Calmap software package will this include a pinout diagram out the Accel ECU nothing is marked on the used system I bought . If you have any suggestion or know any webpages that would help me get started it would be appreciated . ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 17:21:17 -0700 From: bearbvd@xxx.net (Greg Hermann) Subject: Re: DIY_EFI Digest V4 #631 - ---------------------- > >Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 11:04:54 -0500 >From: Mike Rolica >Subject: gm ecm's/efi on mopar > >The fellow that did my rad is looking at making his 440 efi. Methinks not enough flow for >440. >Mike Rolica >EXT. 260 > :-) My first choice for doing this up would be t use one of the cross ram RB intakes with a pop top lid and a big plenum. Use a manifold lid meant to mount a single dominator. You can get 4 bbl "air doors" designed to mount on a Dominator bolt pattern manifold that will flow 2000 cfm @xxx.5" Hg pressure drop--which oughtta be quite plenty! These " air door" units can be gotten complete with a TPS and an IAC motor, all mounted, if you want. Weld injector bungs onto each cross ram runner at the appropriate spot. You can buy ready made weld or screw in bungs from MSD Fuel Systems (same folks as the ignitions), located in El Paso). One of the cross rams with a huge plenum oughtta run pretty impressively, even on the street, with DRY flow in the plenum!! I would have to look at one of these manifolds pretty closely, if might take a bit of creative fabricating to get the injector rails up outside of the plenum lid, but mebbe not. Or--mebbe put the injectors and rails in the valley?? :-) Greg ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 17:19:34 -0800 From: "Mike" Subject: RE: DIY_EFI Digest V4 #631 Why not run a plenum that bolts to the 3 2's and run one big tb? One problem with the tpi is the long runners dont flow real well thats why the superrams and things came out. You could fabricate a plenum that the top removes to bolt it down to the manifiold. I want to do this with a 2 4's Big block chevy manifold.. Its mounted on the 400cid engine, ready to go, for port injection, using the 7749 Sy/Ty ECM with modified code. Worked well on the stroked 383 twin turbo I blew up, but it blew up due to overrevving it on the defective, taped together dyno, not because the engine was misbuilt or the EFI (though I did eliminate the rev limiter - doh! > Now he also has a 6 pac intake. We were thinking maybe he could mount 3 Tpi > TB and run a linkage with a TPS on one of them and IAC probably on the > center TB. Using a mod gm fuel rail. Any other ideas? What kind of ECM Well, the IAC tubes need to be large enough that the engine will idle. The IAC is nothing more than a servo, so one can fabricate a 4-wire servo to pull the throttle cable in or not, that's not that difficult. I used an old printer motor (4 wire servo) during testing of the ECM and the code I was playing with since I didn't have a working GM IAC at the time. > would work good in this application? Has there been anything done with 7749 Syty, 165 Camaro/Transam/Vette, 730 Camaro/Transam/Vette, pretty much any of them that you find a programmer software that you like. > greatly appreciated. Also has equipment to make alum intake, ie could mod > mopar intake to run Tpi runners and plenum? Methinks not enough flow for Well, for my mopar engine I am using a 4000 RPM aluminum edelbrock intake, but for my buick V6, which used port injection based on an electromotive Tec II, I fabricated the intake (long runners) from scratching, using thin-wall plate aluminum, I cut up, and brazed together. - -- Frederic Breitwieser Xephic Technology 769 Sylvan Ave #9 Bridgeport CT 06606 Tele: (203) 372-2707 Fax: (603) 372-1147 Web: http://xephic.dynip.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 08 Nov 1999 22:17:39 CST From: "Full Throttle" Subject: Noisy Fuel pmp..replacement suggestions Hi all... I have installed a used Holley Projection 4di on a 70 Mach1 Mustang. I have the Holley Electric fuel pump that came with the unit. It is VERY noisy, VERY noisy. I have tried rubber mounts, NO mounts, it doesn't matter, this is just a loud fuel pump. I need a fuel pump that will do 15 PSI, what do you guys recomend? I want something quiet, and it is an external, BTW. Thanks!
