I wouldn't even be concerned about this, but I notice that "electrically continuous" Teflon fuel line is available. Doesn't seem to me it should be a problem, but I do wonder why they offer the stuff. As for "why Teflon"... I had a bad experience once with the "black crumbles" in a fuel system. I'm sure quality of neoprene is better these days. But the cost of Teflon was identical, it is very durable, and it is physically more compact. - - Clay - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe from diy_efi, send "unsubscribe diy_efi" (without the quotes) in the body of a message (not the subject) to majordomo@xxx.org ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Apr 2000 13:09:55 -0400 From: "nacelp" Subject: Re: Static electricity and Teflon fuel lines > I wouldn't even be concerned about this, but I notice that "electrically > continuous" Teflon fuel line is available. Probably for gaseous applications, that aren't even automotive, and just one more bzz word to ad in sales. > As for "why Teflon"... I had a bad experience once with the "black > crumbles" in a fuel system. I haven't heard of that in probably 15 years now. I'd almost bet that it was surplus hose used in some weird application, that when exposed to petroleum products, the stuff then failed. Used to be all the SS stuff in LA came out of one place in I think is was Rosemead. They had Nike Hercules launchers as surplus, that were still intact. Lots of jet engines, can't help but to wonder if that was where arfons, breedlove and em got their stuff. I'm sure quality of neoprene is better these > days.
