In order for the Mac LC to correctly determint the monitor, Pins 7 & 10 on the Mac LC connector MUST be connected together. This determines the timing, etc. for the computer when it drives the monitor. All the other connections are the same. Note that the LC needs the optional 512K V-RAM simm to support 256 colors.
