Boldt > > > > > > **** Posted from RemarQ - http://www.remarq.com - Discussions Start Here (tm) **** this may be a little off topic but i have some old apple // gs bbs pkgs running off a network (networked ibm pkg called worldgroup with tcp/ip internet connectivity) they are accessable via telnet from either telnet://lost-gonzo.com or www.lost-gonzo.com on main menu as ap2/fv and ap2/tpro 1) apple // gs upgrade kit running on 14mhz transwarp (since 91) running futurevision/metal 4.0xev with monochrome ansi/proterm/asci and around 30 games 2nd apple // gs running Tpro RPG 4.2f bbs pkg...it is essentially a large D & D game with a bbs built around the game. Also has the old star wars adv game w/the light saber you go from room to room..pretty wild anyway... i'm always looking for ideas/mods/uploads to the apple file area (also accessable via the www site) projects...so if you have anything interesting in that form i'll stick the file up in the apple 2 file area and/or we can showcase some hardware projects. which leads me to the point of all this...hardware wise: i have a chip with a cable switch on it ..it is a switchit? chip i think it was called.. it replaced the eprom ROM with old apple text the org // e used with the rom upgrade for the // e to mousetext this chip allows you to switch between old apple // e rom's and the upgrade kit for the // e roms essentially eprom size shrunk and allowed a person to copy both rom's add a cable to the dual rom put in the single rom spot and switch between unenhanced and enhanced // e anyway figured that may be an easy project for someone hardware wise..i think there is an article someplace in my files from A+ mag on how to do this..i'll dig it up if any interest anyhow that is where i'm comming from on all this old apple 2 stuff .. i got the only apple // bbs's i know of that are telnetable/www site accessable off a T1. Who da thunk it? was not even all that hard to do if you have a site and a // laying about Now if i could just get my orig apple // + version of dos 3.3 applenet up by pencheck?(spelling?) used to run on 6 floppy drives and the // + ...we blew up power supplies every other month..this was in 1983... then i could tell anyone who asks..what do you run on your www site and i can truthfully say..why the same apple // + bbs pkg i've run since 1983! (sorta?) ...bet i'd win a lot of bets let me know if you know of any other sites out there who have done this ...i'd like to know..but been looking for a few yrs so i seem to be alone whatever...upload some stuff on my site... one other thing if anyone is interested... i have the abliity w/my software to MAKE a language..ie..to add proterm emulation lets say to my choice of menu options when people log into my ibm major bbs area that i use for the bbs now (that in turn connects to my apple // gs bbs pkgs from yesteryear) i also have a program that works (with telix on a ms dos machine anyway) that allows you to use proterm on an IBM/ms dos machine...i have that program/and also script that does it..an authors name. if anyone wants that as a project again i don't think it would be that hard....in that someone already has done the hard work..codes that correspond roughly to proterm on the ibm (ie. smily face instead of apple // mousetext symbol etc) with such a mod we could release it as a freeware addon for wg/mbbs systems...which would allow around 120,000 such www/bbs sites to have proterm as an emulation choice of their bbs..and i'm sure it could also be ported to wildcat just some ideas...hope i did not bore too many of you brad sysop@lost-gonzo.com www.lost-gonzo.com telnet://lost-gonzo.com mrbrad@ll.net anyway my site is 180m/day or 90m/call free to users telneting in...;feel free to pop on tw2002, l.o.r.d, 100 plus door games, files, apple // area, fv/metal area, etc etc
