Check out the time lag, maybe it's 7 or 8 hours, so that it'll be around 11 PM your time to chat and try.. .you try, tell me what's going on and I'll try to help... good idea? |it was 4,2 and i moved it to slot 7,1.....i'll move it to slot 6 if you |think that is the problem...but it should not be... No, slots and drives don't have a thing to do with metal. It's the pure prefixes... |the defaults in metal.config...are the same as yours in metal config. |as |far as i can tell..i use the same /bbs/fv/iebs kinda thing that is how |i unshk it Is your BBS structure like this: /bbs/fv/ 0 packages/ 1 iebs/ i/ utils/ xtras/ games/ mpt/ 2 system/ system.news/ statx/ games/ quotes/ infolib/ who/ votes/ bin/ docs/ 3 menus/ help/ 6 msgs/ 4 net/ fnetpublic/ sites/ privatespool/ 5 usr/ 8 xfers/ 7 logs/ This is my setup (roughly). There may be a few more dirs in there. The numbers in from of it are NOT included, they represent the shortcuts that FV uses to access the dirs. The shortcuts are completely entered in the metal.config file, like I showed above. |unless it is the modem, my transwarp gs by applied engineering...(which |i doubt) or something i should set for config.s I don't think so. To ignore the modem, simply change the metal.config file here: MODEM= ! Hayes, Usr, No, Generic !MODEM= What you do, is this: turn off the modem = generic modem by putting an ! in front of it and removing the other one, like this: !MODEM= ! Hayes, Usr, No, Generic MODEM= Then your modem is ignored... could speed up things a bit.. but it doesn't have to do with the global labels. Hope this helps alot :) -= Doede = (R)eply, (E)rase, (C)opy, (F)orward, (B)acktrack, (P)revious, or (N)ext? n Date: Thursday, October 10, 1996 4:46pm Electronic Mail From: INT:dboomsma@sci.kun.nl Msg#: 50018 To: System Test Re: this is IT File: ARCHIVE1.SHK (Copy by Sysop) (N)ext, (P)revious, or (R)ead this message? r Hi Brad, you made me WORK like a horse :-))) I checked it all out, and found out that it simply does NOT work when shk'd with ShrinkIt GS. r tallrunner doesn't have his bbs though it was listed as temp down... the networking stuff...if i can get it setup so it COULD even though i won't net via phone line (ld is locked out...i ran too much $$$ up so now i use inet)...anyway once i can get 4.1 to that point....i'm pretty sure it is a metal tweak of the dialout.txt whatever to add a way to log onto my major bbs first ...skip to the telenet area...connect via inet to the particular unix box with fv on it...and then have the fv stuff take off....if a guy new what he was doing and what commands to hit on the major bbs end..it would prob be an hr job... i bumped you up to co_sysop so you can get this stuff again and have time to do so....i put the stuff up in the fv area... things to remeber...i'm prob forgeting some but here goes fv 4.0 xev the pswd and stuff you got..don't release this out as is.this is for you to stick on a partition and run privately to rob and steal ideas code etc from...i'd just credit whomever is listed in the particular module tallrunner or something for any original ideas..etc... my user name is: Mr. Brad pswd paula. maint pswd paula. i think you get to maintence by email shift 8....but you got to be in email first... it has prac perph config on it if you want to steal something for adding to 4.1 that works with metal...a 2nd prac perph config option.. i have a lot of stuff you don't have....so look for little fun/options improvements hidden or about in the 4.0xev...planet bashers is stable that is by xev...and tallrunner really tweaked spacer quest prob the most stable ver i have ever seen i have...it never crashes....also has the zip gs setting mod in games etc i'm gonna have to get the ramfast for the 3rd gs ..this may take me awhile to do as well..getting stuff the way i want on 4.1...i may wait till you get some of the proterm menus etc done 1st too.. the tpro bbs name: mr. brad pswd: opus. opus. opus. from local if you hit 1 (for sysop) and hold down option key on gs...it skips over the 3 pswd protection it also has some interesting games like star wars, and the large rpg.. again i just shk the whole works users and all for u to use privately... i didn t have the room to move and tweak it on the hd and may be a month or more till i get that ramfast...so you are just geting the works.. the last file is a little tpro bulletin fixer you can use for top scores i think...if i remember to put it in the shk anyway it also is in fv area on co_sysop status... run amuck...and the tpro ...is in applesoft basic..so if u are gonna do anything simple with it...i'd just get a cheap 200 buck 386 and door off to it....like i do...or make door that works as passthru on fv 4.2....ugly..but gs's are cheap if you want to release this out to the public..you can clean it up to if you wish there is a better ver out there but i never get to where the guy has it in the state...i'm sure if you just dumped my users/etc off of it...we could get permission to freeware it...but like i said..no room right now to for me to do that so i just shk you the works i think that is it..i'm sure when you get this stuff up..i've forgotten stuff...oh..on the tpro there are special sysop areas you get to in various places features email main...by hitting the @ key... other stuff to..but try to get it up first... and i have every thing set up for /hard2 as the program name..there is another setup program..(some works some is disconnected) it is under utility it is called configure.bas program.... the gs port does not work with this you need a super serial card....w/o the super serial card and set for no modem (or modem) to get into the bbs you hit cntr l (even if the stuff is scrolling crazily in the modem inet box) anyway get it up more or less and we can walk you thru it...but keen little program if we could figure out a way for u to get another gs and a way to door to it...(easier then reprograming the whole thing) whatever checkout the fv area and save this meager attempt at instructions... brad lost-gonzo (R)eply, (E)rase, (C)opy, (F)orward, (B)acktrack, (P)revious, or (N)ext? Just name your PTSE menu main2 or voting2 or email2.. ansi = 4. Have a look in my MENUS directory (3/). Gotta catch the train.
