According to the Spectrum manual and the manual for ProTERM 3.1, the correct wiring for the Hi-Speed cable is ... Mini DIN-8 DB-25 Signal Discription 3 2 TD (Transmit Data) 5 3 RD (Receive Data) 4,8 7 GND (Ground) 2 5 CTS (Clear to Send) 1 4,20 RTS (4= Ready to Send; 20= DTR= Data Term Rdy) 7 8 DCD (Data Carrier Dectect) The Spectrum manual has a note which says that some cables swap connections to pins 2 and 7 on the Mini-DIN-8 plug. Such a cable requires using an alternate port driver with Spectrum. My guess is that a cable with connections to pins 2 and 7 swapped would not work correctly with ProTERM's usual driver, either.
