Overview: The model 7280 is a DSP accelerator for the PCI bus featuring up to two 60 Mhz TMS320C80 Multimedia Video Processors (MVP). The architecture consists of twin processor cores connected to a common PCI bus interface. Each processor core consists of a 'C80 processor coupled to 16 MB of 0 WS SDRAM, twin 2 MB video ram banks, 0.5 MB of FLASH memory, and inter-processor communication resources. Efficient data transfer and communication between the two processor cores is accomplished through the bi-directional synchronous FIFO logic that couples the two together. The twin BIFO/DPSRAM interface which connects the processor cores to the PCI controller, minimizes data collisions, increasing the effective processing power of the architecture. The board may operate in either big or little endian mode. The board is available in single and dual processor configurations. Additional I/0 is provided via the expansion interface attached to the serial port of the two banks of VRAM connected to each processor. The interface also provides access to both sets of video controller signals of each 'C80 allowing support of multiple video standards including RS-170, NTSC, PAL, RGB, and digital camera.
