| Overview: | IAT offers a single-chip TMS320C8x implementation of baseline JPEG Still Picture Compression Standard. It is coded as two server tasks (an encode server and a decode server) that run under the C8x Multitasking Executive and provide JPEG services to other tasks on the C8x or a host processor. The software has been designed to run in a pipelined fashion to help support motion JPEG. Due to software encoding/decoding of the JPEG Huffman stream, the performance is image dependent. A task running on a host processor or on the C8x under the Multitasking Executive can request JPEG services from the JPEG servers on the C8x. Each JPEG server uses a set of PPs that are fixed at compile time. JPEG is inherently big endian, and this code works only in the big endian mode of the C8x. |
