Question: Has trouble getting 5x to start running on power up. Takes 2 min 12 sec to start even though he can see address lines moving on scope. If NMI is unconnected it only takes a second. After code finally does run subsequent reset are instantaneous.

Answer: He needs to pull NMI to 5V to prevent any undetermined operation from the DSP. Also, the second it takes could be due to the Bootloading of the device before execution occurs.
