 Question:
How to upgrade the 'C30 EVM from 16K words to 64K words
Answer:
Note: This upgrade modifies the 'C30 EVM board and violates any
support or warranty from TI
The 'C30 EVM board was designed to support 16 K words and 64 K words by replacing the
SRAM chips and changing the jumper settings as follows:
- Cut the jumpers between pins 1 and 2 and pins 5 and 6.
- Jumper pins 3 and 4, as well as, pins 7 and 8.
- Clip out the pins of all the 16K by 4 bits SRAM chips: CY7C164-35.
- Remove the remaining pins from the board.
- Solder 64K by 4 bits SRAM chips: CY7C194-35.
The jumper settings remap the functionality of pins 10 and 11 of the SRAM chips. In the
factory configuration, pin 10 - Chip Enable (CE) of the CY7C164 SRAM chip - is connected
to the Strobe signal of the 'C30. Pin 11 - a No Connect of the CY7C164 SRAM chip - is
connected to address pin 15 of the 'C30.
With the modified jumper settings, pin 10 - address pin 15 of CY7C194 SRAM chip - is
connected to the address pin 15 of the 'C30. Pin 11 - Chip Enable (CE) of the CYC194 SRAM
chip - is connected to the Strobe signal of the 'C30.
Note that pin 18 - a No Connect of the CY7C164 SRAM chip - is connected to the address
pin 14 of the 'C30. On the CY7C194 SRAM chip, pin 18 is address pin 0.
All the other pins are identical. |
