Question: When is it useful to use the SECTIONS directive ?

Answer: It's useful when:

  • You want to use the -paddr option.
  • You have sections within the COFF file that contain raw data that have varying datawidths (this is only a concern for the TMS320C32).
  • You have sections in the COFF file that you don't want to be converted.
