Question : Why does the EVM only run up to 160MHz?

Answer : The EVM includes a 167MHz version of the C6201, although some could run at 200MHz. The C62x has a glueless interface to SBSRAM and SDRAM. But, the EVM has buffers to allow 2 banks of SDRAM and 1 bank of SBSRAM. This keeps the EVM from running reliably at 200 MHz (SDRAM at 100MHz). Note that the 40MHz oscillator could be changed to a 50MHz to allow the C6x to run at 200MHz, but then the SDRAM would not function reliably at 100MHz.
