TRADE SHOWS

PCI Week

March 27-31, Santa Clara, Calif.

Tom Wutka will present "New PC Card ICs Contribute to Proliferation of PCI Bus" at the annual PCI Week conference.

An abstract follows:

The emerging PCI standard brings with it the need for unique, innovative solutions for connecting system components to it. The advent of PCI requires devices which can bridge between PCI and other peripherals, such as CardBus. CardBus, an improved version of PCMCIA, is fully backward-compatible with the PCMCIA 2.1 PC Card specification. CardBus provides a relatively easy upgrade path from R2 (PCMCIA 2.1) PC cards. CardBus provides added features over R2 cards, such as bus mastering capabilities, 32-bit data paths and future lower voltages. Though a relatively easy upgrade path, issues such as DMA and interrupt handling still remain in limbo. Innovative solutions exist for CardBus that address both DMA and interrupt handling in a PCI environment.

Networld+ Interop

March 28-30, Las Vegas, Nev.

Texas Instruments will demonstrate a digital desktop videoconferencing camera jointly defined by TI and Sony at Networld+ Interop, the largest trade show dedicated to LAN/WAN networking products. TI will discuss the latest high-speed networking products including Ethernet, Token Ring and ATM networking silicon solutions that operate on both sides of the wire/cable.

WinHEC

March 20-22, San Francisco, Calif.

Texas Instruments will cosponsor a luncheon March 21 featuring George Gilder, well-known technologist and author, at WinHEC. This show is a technical conference for product development engineers, hardware engineers and senior technical managers. TI also will demonstrate its 486, 1394 serial bus and PCI bus technology.
