New InfoNavigator saves time when researching mixed-signal and analog devices

A new CD-based "Designer's Guide and Data Book" from Texas Instruments includes a powerful search engine that will save time when researching mixed-signal or analog devices.

The CD, called InfoNavigator by TI, is free and includes almost 15,000 pages of technical documentation on all of TI's approximately 2,000 mixed-signal and analog semiconductors. An engineer can begin a search on the CD-based Designer's Guide by choosing the functionality required of the device. The search engine then generates a list of products fitting this description. The user can then provide additional search criteria to further narrow the list. Next, the user can review a high-level Technical Overview on each device before accessing comprehensive data sheets and application notes.

Alternative search methods include inputting a device's part number or the part number of a device from another vendor. This latter method will generate a list of TI products that are functionally equivalent to the device.

The information contained in the Designer's Guide goes beyond data sheets and data books. It also includes application reports, reference designs and macro models, information on evaluation modules availability, seminar and trade show listings, articles from TI's customer newsletter, Showcase, information on packages and a glossary.

TI will continually update the information contained in the Designer's Guide, and will distribute a free and updated CD to current users every six months.

"Because of the lengthy time it takes to reprint materials, the CD will in all likelihood have more accurate information than hard copy documents," said Alun Roberts, strategic marketing manager for TI's mixed-signal products. "Of course, whenever any information on any of our products changes, the new information is available immediately on our Web site."

Free CD-based Designer's Guides are available now by calling 1-800-477-8924, ext. 5022, or by accessing TI's Web page at http://www.ti.com/sc/5022.
