New rail-to-rail CMOS op amps available in tiny SOT-23 packageA new family of low-voltage rail-to-rail op amps in the Small Outline Transistor (SOT)-23 package is now available from Texas Instruments. These amplifiers have low-noise voltage and low-power consumption, which makes them well suited for applications such as cellular phones, notebook computers, modems and any low-power, hand-held equipment. The TLV2211, TLV2221 and TLV2231 are the latest additions to TI's expanding line of SOT-23 analog products. This new TLV22x1 family offers designers good performance in a very small package, which lets them place the amplifiers close to the signal source, thus minimizing noise from long Printed Circuit Board (PCB) traces. The TLV2211 is a single micropower op amp with a typical supply current of 11µA, which is prime for battery-powered applications where power consumption is critical. It is the lowest noise SOT-23 micropower op amp available (Vn=22nV/(rt)Hz @ 3V). The TLV2231 is a solution for applications that require better AC performance. It has a slew rate of 1.6V/µs and bandwidth of 2MHz, while still only requiring 850µA of supply current. The TLV2231 can drive 600-Ohm loads and has the lowest noise floor of the three devices at 15nV/(rt)Hz. The TLV2221 offers a solution between the AC performance and output drive of the TLV2231 and the micropower TLV2211. The TLV22x1 family of op amps is now available through TI and its authorized distributors.
