High performance phase locked loop (PLL)

The TLC2932 CMOS component implements a high-frequency phase-locked loop (PLL). It includes an edge-triggered phase/frequency detector (PFD) and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). High speed and stable oscillation frequency make the TLC2932 suitable for use in many high performance applications.

The high speed PFD detects the phase difference between the reference frequency input and the variable frequency input, which is supplied by external counter logic. The PFD also includes an internal charge pump.

Capable of locking up to 50 MHz with a 5-V supply, or up to 21 MHz with a 3-V supply VCO oscillator, the VCO oscillation frequency range is set by one external resistor. The VCO also has a selectable divide-by-two output frequency divider function.

The PFD and the VCO have independent inhibit functions which increase flexibility and can be used in power-down modes.

The TLC2932 is available in 14-pin Thin Small Outline Package (TSSOP).
