The TMS 57014 is a stereo oversampled sigma-delta digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It was designed for use in systems such as compact disks, digital audio tapes, multimedia, video cassette recorders, and set top boxes.
It consists of two identical synchronous conversion paths for left and right audio. It contains a serial data interface, timing and control functions and two audio channels, each consisting of an interpolation filter, deemphasis filter, and DAC modulator.
The device provides high resolution (18-bit) signal conversion and sample rates up to 48 kHz. It achieves total harmonic distortion of 0.004% and a total-channel dynamic range of 96 dB. Additional features include muting, attenuation, deemphasis and zero data detection. These functions are implemented with 16 bit control words from a host controller or processor.
The TMS57014 is characterized for operation over the temperature range from 0-70°C. The TMS57014 is available in the 28-pin DWB plastic small outline package (SOP).
