The TLC5620 and TLC5628 are quad and octal 8 bit DACs respectively in a single package. Both versions provide a 3-wire serial interface, voltage output programmable for 1x or 2x the reference voltage, high impedance reference voltage inputs, double buffered latches for simultaneous updates, and single +5 V supply that dissipates only 10 mW maximum. The serial interface operates at clock frequencies up to 1 Mhz. This feature set allows designers greater flexibility than comparable DACs. And the low pin count reduces the cost compared to using multiple, single DACs. The TLC5620CD equates to $0.47 per DAC and the TLC5628CDW equates to only $0.31 per DAC*. Typical applications include:
The TLC5628 contains 8 voltage output DACs in a 16 pin package. The operation and feature set are similar to the quad, TLC5620. TLC5628 has two, high impedance reference voltage inputs, each reference feeds four DACs. Each DACs output voltage can be programmed to 1x or 2x the reference. The DACs are programmed via a 12-bit word using three-wire serial interface. The registers are double buffered for simultaneous update.
