128-bit RAMDAC with 16.7 million colors at 1600 x 1280 resolution

Product features

The TVP3030 128-bit RAMDAC is a performance-enhanced version of the highly successful TVP3026 64-bit RAMDAC. By operating at higher frequencies and integrating a wider pixel bus the TVP3030 provides more colors at higher resolutions, enabling workstation-like graphics performance for PC Windows™ accelerators.

Intended for 4 to 8 Mbyte, VRAM-based high-end PC graphics systems, the TVP3030 supports speeds of 175-, 220-, and 250-MHz, enabling 24-bit true color (16.7 million colors) at 1600 x 1280 resolution with an astonishing 76 Hz refresh rate; giving superior color rendition and screen clarity.

The TVP3030 is highly integrated, featuring high-speed triple 8-bit DACs, three 256-by-8 color lookup tables, a 64 x 64 x 2 hardware cursor, and a programmable pixel multiplexing interface. In addition to these high-end RAMDAC features, the device also reduces component count, board space, and electrical emissions by integrating dual frequency synthesis PLLs which can be used to generate pixel clock frequencies up to the device limit. Further system cost savings can be achieved by making use of the TVP3030's

24-bit packed-pixel true color capability, which reduces system VRAM requirements while allowing 24-bit true color at high resolution.

Like the TVP3026, the TVP3030 features the revolutionary loop-clock PLL which simplifies the graphics system design by phase locking the graphics controller and RAMDAC, ensuring proper system timing and allowing maximum VRAM bandwidths. The TVP3030 also shares a common register format, allowing software compatibility and an easy migration path from 64- to 128-bit graphics designs.

The TVP3030 is compatible with most industry standard graphics controllers and is available now from Texas Instruments and TI authorized distributors in a 208-pin QFP package rated 0°C to 70°C.
