The TLC5733 is a three channel, 8 bit, 20 MSPS ADC that utilizes a semiflash technique for conversion. It converts high speed signals such as Y.U.V. video or the RGB output of color CCDs in parallel for high throughput. The sampling rates are specified up to 20 MSPS. The TLC5733 also includes a high precision digital clamp circuit, standard Y.U.V. output formats and is configurable for NTSC or PAL standards. Implemented in a CMOS process, the TLC5733 requires a single +5 V supply and dissipates only 375 mW maximum.

The unique digital feed-back-clamp circuit is optimized to clamp Y.U.V. input components level to CCIR 601 coding standards. The clamp level accuracy is typically ±1 LSB, which based on standard 2 Vp-p equates to ±7.8 mV. The clamp pulse generator detects COMPOSITE SYNC and generates the pulse automatically at backporch. A clamp pulse can also be supplied externally. Sampling for this mode is 4 Fs. The flexible output data format multiplexer selects a ratio of Y:U:V of 4:4:4, 4:2:2, or 4:1:1. This is accomplished by selecting the correct mode via 2 digital input pins. The 4:4:4 output format without clamp function is specifically designed for applications using RGB video, such as video conferencing with a CCD camera.

The TLC5733 is available in 64-pin, plastic quad flat packs (PQFP) for a suggested resale price of $7.17 per device in quantities of 1,000.
