typical output impedance
The TLV431A is Texas Instruments newest precision shunt voltage regulator designed to extend the features of the TL431 family to low voltage systems. The TLV431A was designed predominately to be used as the sense comparator in the control loop of low voltage DC-DC converters (see figure). It can also be configured as a shunt regulator with an output adjustable from 1.24 V to 6 V.
The TLV431A integrates a precise 1% 1.24-V reference, a voltage
comparator, and a 15-mA shunt transistor. The lower reference voltage provides the
headroom necessary to drive optocouplers in the feedback loop
of 2.7 V to 3.3 V power supplies. Its 1% tolerance provides the
required accuracy unavailable in other manufacturers' low-voltage
shunt regulators.
For space sensitive applications, the TLV431A is offered in the extremely small 5-lead SOT-23 surface-mount package as well as the traditional 3-lead TO-226A (TO-92) through-hole package.
Both commercial temperature (0ºC to 70ºC) and industrial
temperature (-40ºC to 85ºC) grades are available.
