New 1996 Data Transmission Circuits Databook Volume 2 now available

Texas Instruments has just published a new data transmission circuits and communication controllers data book. It contains all the datasheets for a full range of UARTs, plug-and-play controllers, Infrared Data Association (IrDA) encoder/decoders, PCMCIA controllers and IEEE FireWire™/1394 Serial Bus controllers and receiver/arbiters. This data book combines an update of the UART data from the 1995/1996 Data Transmission Circuits Data Book Vol. 1, with datasheets for all of the communication controllers. New in the 1996 data book are devices compliant with the IEEE 1394 -- 1995 high performance serial bus standard. The standard features hot plug-and-play capability and high speed, realtime data transfer for computer and consumer electronics equipment. Vol. 2 also contains product previews for soon to be released products. It includes a comprehensive selection guide and full mechanical specifications of all of device package options offered.

Vol. 2 includes:

• TL16PNP100A - stand-alone plug-and-play controller
• TL16PNP550A - TL16C550 UART with a plug and play controller
• TIR1000 - IrDA compatible encoder/decoder
• TSB21LV03 - 1394 triple cable transceiver/arbiter providing three fully compliant cable ports at 100/200 Mbit/s
• TSB11LV01 - 1-port 1394 cable transceiver/arbiter for 3-V supply operation at 100Mbit/s
• TSB14C01 - 1-port 1394 backplane transceiver/arbiter providing the transceiver functions needed to implement a single node at 50/100 Mbit/s in a backplane-based 1394 network
