TLC320AD56 AIC EVM
An evaluation kit is now available to evaluate the performance of the TLC320AD56 analog interface circuit (AIC). The 'AD56 is a versatile 16-bit sigma-delta analog front end for modem and business audio applications. It provides high resolution signal conversion from analog-to-digital and from digital-to-analog using an oversampling sigma-delta technique.
The EVM kit comes complete with a data manual and applications report which describes the evaluation board and usage techniques. The application report also describes how to connect the 'AD56 EVM to the 'C5x DSK. Some of the features of the TLC320AD56 include a typical signal to distortion ratio of 103 dB at 3 V and 85 dB at 5 V on the ADC channel and 96 dB on the DAC channel. It also offers a typical signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 86 dB on the ADC channel and 85 dB on the DAC channel. The 'AD56 consists of two serial synchronous conversion paths, one for each data direction, and includes an interpolation filter before the DAC and a decimation filter after the ADC. It also has a digital loopback function that allows for in-circuit system level tests. The 'AD56 features a serial port interface whose options include reset, power-down, communications protocol, serial clock rate, and test mode. The power down mode reduces the power dissipation from the typical operating level of 100 mW to only 2.5 mW.
