Current limiting: Senses short circuits or other current

                                overloads to prevent damage

Thermal protection: Shuts down completely in the event of

                                overheating

Static protection: Provides ESD protection with up to 12,000

                                volts on outputs and 6,000 volts on inputs

Low power dissipation: Efficiently delivers more power to the

                                system (95 milli-Ohm on-chip resistance)

Small packaging: Surface mount 8-pin SOIC and 14-pin TSSOP

End Equipment Applications

The TPS201X family can be used in place of common high-side switches that do not provide protection, or replace switches combined with fuses and/or other discrete protection circuitry. (i.e. current suppressors, fuses, polyfuses or circuit breakers). Typical applications include:

* Laptop and notebook computers

* Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs)

* Handheld instruments

* Handheld scanners

Pricing, Packaging and Availability

The TPS201X device family is available now from TI and its authorized distributors. Suggested resale pricing in quantities of 1,000 begins at $1.15. Available packages include an eight-pin SOIC and 14-pin TSSOP.
