In addition to the DSP tools and technical information, data sheets on more than 1,000 TI products will be available. Revisions and new product information will be updated continuously. These new services are the first time TI technical documents have been made available on-line and are in response to customer requests.
A recent TI customer survey indicated that 56 percent of the respondents connect to worldwide services on the Internet, which ensures that a large segment of TI's worldwide customer base will have 24-hour a day, seven-day a week access to the information.
The Online DSP Lab, which makes available TI DSP application design
and development tools via DSPnet,
(http://www.dspnet.com) or TI's
DSP Solutions Home Page
(http://www.ti.com/dsps), is designed
to improve worldwide access for both potential new customers as
well as current customers worldwide. Engineers who don't know
what is available from TI will now be able to access detailed
information, including compiling and running the DSP tools for
pre-purchase evaluation.
In addition, engineers who have used TI DSP application design and development tools previously, can also evaluate new TI technologies for possible use in upcoming products and systems. Previously, engineers had to obtain tools through TI's loaner program to evaluate the technology at their office. This new service eliminates waiting for loaned tools to be available.
Any engineer, around the world, can access the tools via the TI
DSP Solutions Home Page
(http://www.ti.com/dsps) or the DSPnet
home page
(http://www.dspnet.com). Users will be able to use the
actual tools necessary for system design live on the Internet.
In providing this service, TI saves engineers time by allowing
them to familiarize themselves with TI development tools and test
their own code before deciding to purchase the tools.
With this new service, for the first time customers will have on-line access to TI technical information, including data sheets on more than 1,000 products. In addition, for customers who want to stay abreast of new information, TI now also offers a customized information service that is designed by the customer. Each customer who chooses to participate, will select the product topics he or she is most interested in.
Each time that customer logs onto TI's Home Page,
(http://www.ti.com),
he or she will see a newsletter containing new information on
only the areas of interest selected. This time-saving feature
does not preclude customers from browsing other areas of TI's
Home Page, but is designed to provide a short-cut for busy customers
to obtain the information that is of most importance to them.
In addition to the custom web page, each customer also can register to receive a weekly personalized e-mail newsletter covering the latest information available on that customers specific areas of interest.
Anyone can register by clicking on the TI&ME button at
http://www.ti.com.
Customers using the system will log onto TI's DSP Solutions Home
Page
(http://www.ti.com/dsps) and gain access to a data base of
technical files including specifications, data sheets, design
notes and other information.
Using this system, customers can find answers to their immediate questions about TI's DSPs and development tools, download and print documents, as well as research additional topics for future reference.
All three services are offered free of charge.
