New Analog-to-Digital Converters Expand Texas Instruments Digital Signal Processing Solutions Portfolio for Cellular Phones and Consumer ElectronicsDALLAS (Dec. 9, 1996) -- New, high-performance, low-power analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are now available from Texas Instruments (TI), the world's leading provider of digital signal processing solutions. These devices, developed with TI's Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) technology, offer a direct interface to TI's line of TMS320 digital signal processors (DSPs) and are ideal in applications such as cellular phones, pagers and personal digital assistants (PDAs).
The new ADCs, designated the TLV1544 and the TLV1548, operate
from a wide supply voltage and convert analog input signals into
10-bit resolution digital format representation at 85KSPS. These
ADCs have a direct 3-wire interface to the serial port of a synchronous
serial peripheral interface (SPI) compatible microprocessor.
The TLV1544 and the TLV1548 are designed to operate for a wide
range of supply voltage with only 1mA supply current. The power
saving feature is further enhanced with a software-programmed
power-down mode and conversion rate. In addition to high-speed
analog to digital conversion and versatile control capability,
the TLV1548 has an on-chip 11-channel multiplexer (MUX) that can
select any one of eight analog inputs or any one of three internal
self-test voltages. The TLV1544 has four analog inputs. Features/Benefits

Pricing, Packaging and Availability
The TLV1544 and the TLV1548 are now available from Texas Instruments
and its authorized distributors. The TLV1544 is in a 16-pin small-outline
integrated circuit (SOIC) package and the TLV1548 is in a 20-pin
shrink small-outline package (SSOP). The TLV1544 is priced at
$3.25 and the TLV1548 is priced at $3.64, both in quantities of
1,000.
