New Fast, Low-Power Comparator Family From Texas Instruments Consumes Half the Power of Current Product OfferingsDALLAS (March 17, 1997) -- A new family of ultra-fast, low power precision comparators are now available from Texas Instruments (TI). These comparators, designed to interface directly to transistor-transistor logic (TTL), are ideal in applications such as hard disk drives and high-speed scanners. The devices, designated the TL3016 and the TL3116, offer faster propagation delay times and lower power consumption than competitive solutions, at one-third the cost. The TL3016 and TL3116 operate from either a single 5V supply or dual +/-5V supplies, and feature very tight offset voltage and high gain for precision applications. The TL3116 has an input common mode range that extends below the negative supply rail, making it ideal for sensing signals near the negative supply. Features/Benefits
