Wolfson Microelectronics and Texas Instruments Collaborate on Joint Development Programme for Data Converter Products

EDINBURGH, UK (Dec. 17, 1997) -- Wolfson Microelectronics announced today that it has signed an agreement with Texas Instruments for a joint product development programme targeted at a wide range of data conversion products. This programme is an example of TI's commitment to extending its mixed-signal technological innovations and market leadership position in DSP solutions. The joint programme accelerates the expansion of Wolfson's product catalog of leading-edge data converters.

Under the agreement, both Wolfson and TI will contribute marketing and engineering resources to the programme with TI providing manufacturing facilities. The resulting products will be sold by both companies as part of their respective data conversion product portfolios.

Additionally, Texas Instruments has taken a five percent equity position in Wolfson Microelectronics.

"The innovation and rapid execution of new product developments by Wolfson combined with TI's world class manufacturing capability provides a winning combination," said David Milne, managing director of Wolfson.

"Wolfson has demonstrated its ability to conceive innovative solutions, engineer a portfolio of products and successfully bring customers to market," said David Van Winkle, TI's worldwide director of data converter products. "This investment and joint product development programme is an example of our commitment to the analog market."
