Texas Instruments and Future Electronics Expand Distribution Agreement to United States
DALLAS (Jan. 22, 1998) -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE:TXN) and Future Electronics announced today an agreement to expand the companies' relationship, with the addition of Future as an authorized TI distributor in the United States. Future, previously authorized in Canada, will under the new agreement be able to sell TI semiconductor products throughout the United States and Canada, effective March 1, 1998.
Future is currently the world's fourth largest industrial electronics distributor and TI's number one distributor in Canada. The successful relationship between the two companies in the past contributed to both companies' decision to expand the relationship.
"This is a natural step in our relationship with Future," said John Simari, Director of North American Distribution at TI. "We have a history of aligning with the best distributors in the business, and
Future has been a critical component of that strategy for 24 years. We have dynamic growth plans in 1998. The addition of Future to our strong existing distributor line up allows TI to realistically achieve those goals, without diluting the focus of our existing channel relationships."
"Texas Instruments has been an integral part of our line card since 1974," said E. Stephen Segal, Future's Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. "This represents a reinforcement of that relationship and an opportunity for both companies to reach some aggressive goals in 1998. Future has established strong customer loyalty through North America....this allows us to extend that service
to Texas Instruments in the United States."
In addition to Future's traditionally strong reputation for servicing volume product needs of OEM's, TI is looking forward to Future's dedication to driving design activity for TI's DSP Solutions. "Distributors play an increasingly critical role in supporting the engineering community with technical design assistance," said Simari. "Future is putting in place the necessary elements to help us drive the revolution of Digital Signal Processing Solutions and other key technologies."
"Future Electronics is world renowned for the reliability of its service, for its state-of-the-art electronic commerce, automated inventory replenishment programs, for the broad range and depth of its
inventory and for its world-class personnel training programs," said Segal. "We look forward to applying those skills for Texas Instruments customers."
Founded in 1968, Future Electronics is the world's fourth largest industrial distributor of electronic components. The company, employing more than 5,200 people specializes in the sale of semiconductors and passive and electro-mechanical components, and operates in more than eighty major market centers in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
