     Extended Support Program from Aptronix
     --------------------------------------

     Ongoing support services are now available for Fide users wanting
     help in optimizing their first design effort with fuzzy logic. 
     This service is called Aptronix Extended Support (AES) and it
     also provides a 9600 baud external modem.
     
     This program includes the following assistance:
     
     1. Tips and tricks for advanced uses of Fide
     
     2. An analysis of the fuzzy inference units in a  design and
     recommendations on how to optimize the performance of the
     inference unit(s).  Customers will need to send example Fide
     source code and a summary of the applications.
     
     3. Advice on how to integrate fuzzy inference units into
     applications to improve speed and performance of the overall
     system.
     
     The price for this service is $550 per year and it includes a
     9600 baud external modem for high speed access to our FuzzyNet
     electronic BBS system.  Telephone support is also included with
     this service contract.  As an option, users can purchase this
     service for $350 without the modem -- although we highly suggest
     using the FuzzyNet system.  The AES service must be purchased
     directly through Aptronix.
     
     We believe customers will find this to be an extremely valuable
     service to assist their initial design effort with fuzzy logic
     technology.
     
     
     Electronic Meeting Place
     ------------------------

     Aptronix is interested in working with engineers from all over
     the world who are learning how to incorporate fuzzy logic into
     their designs by using Fide.  That is why we have invested in an
     electronic bulletin board system called FuzzyNet.
     
     There are two levels of access.  The general public can call
     FuzzyNet and download a number of text files relating to the use
     of fuzzy logic technology.  We encourage engineers and managers
     to use this information to gain a better understanding of the
     benefits of fuzzy logic for their in-house projects.
     
     Users of Fide Demonstration and Fide Version 1.0 will have access
     to the Product Support forum and a suite of application notes on
     fuzzy logic.  These notes include FIL source code so developers
     can experiment with different ideas provided by Aptronix.

     New Person on Board
     -------------------
     
     Weijing Zhang
     
     Joining us as a application specialist is Weijing Zhang who
     recently completed a 6 year stay in Japan.  Three of those years
     he spent working with Michio Sugeno who is a Professor at Tokyo
     Institute of Technology.  Weijing's personal research project
     was on the use of fuzzy logic for image understanding.  
     
     We look forward to seeing how he applies Fide to this type of
     application.
     
     At Aptronix Weijing is producing application notes for Fide Demo
     and Fide Version 1.0 software.  These notes are posted on
     FuzzyNet and will be made available for mail-out to registered
     Fide users.  Early feedback from our customers and distributors
     indicate these application notes are proving useful in
     demonstrating that fuzzy logic can be employed in a wide variety
     of embedded control designs. Currently we have 5 applications:
     
     	* Washing machines
     	* Auto focus for cameras
     	* Servo motor force control
     	*Temperature control with
     	   dead time compensation
     	*Air conditioning control
     
     We look forward to input from customers on ideas for future
     application notes.

     In the October/November time frame you will hear more about the
     future of Fide.  This newsletter will be expanded to include a
     tips and tricks section for developers along with news on the
     market place
