68701(U4) PROGRAMMER

     If you need to program the 68701 or 68701U4 there is a new
     programmer available that may be just what you need.  The EP701
     (featured in the May, 1990 issue of "Modern Electronics") is a
     low cost programmer that will interface directly with virtually
     any personal computer.  S-records are transferred directly  
     between the PC and the EP701 without having to burn a 2764.

     Specifications

     Size: Six inches square
     Power requirement: +5VDC @ 500mA from external source
     File transfer protocol:  Motorola S-record format
     Parallel interface: Standard parallel printer connector
     Serial interface:
      * Asynchronous RS-232, no handshaking
      * Female, 9-pin, D connector
      * Baud rate is jumper selectable from 300 to 9600
      * Data format is 8N1
     Operating modes:
      * Printer mode, allows the EP701 to take the place of any
        printer, either serial or parallel.  An S-record file to be
        programmed into the 68701 is sent to the EP701 in the same
        manner it would be printed.
      * Modem mode, only supports the serial interface.  This
        mode requires a host with a communications software package.
        It offers the advantages of complete error messages, data
        inspection, and control of the programming process.

     The EP701 is available as a bare board kit which includes:
