87% of the firearm deaths are homicides, 11% are due to suicide and 1% are accidental. In 1% of cases, the manner of death was undetermined. This is shown in the graph below.

Firearms are used in almost half of all homicides cases. Sharp objects are used in 34% of cases, blunt objects in 11%, while homicides due to other causes account for 7% of deaths.
