Home Up Ham Barclay Bld Tower Motor delay B/U Gen Fuel Cut Off

My winter project.

The furnace has a 1/3 hp motor.  The starting PF is roughly calculated at:

250 running watts / (115vac * 4 amps full load) = 0.543 pf

So the starting wattage the generator would see:

250 run watts / 0.543 pf = 460 watts starting (fan motor only).

Motor specs from Dayton 1/3 hp motor  115vac 4 amps max load.

BUT

The furnace is rated at 6.9 amps max from the name plate.

So P=IE = 120 * 6.9 = 828 watts max

O

So the generator, if rated at 1000 watts or better, should handle the furnace load.
