Product Features

  • Features the TSB12LV31 link layer controller and TSB21LV03A 200Mbps, three port physical layer device
  • IEEE 1394, RS232, and ISA(PC/104) interfaces
  • RS-232 port allows communication with the TMS320C52 contolling processor
  • Source code executes DMA operations, reads, and writes

The TSBKGPLYNX Designer's Kit uses TI's TSB12LV31 link layer controller, a 200 Mbps TSB21LV03A physical layer transceiver/arbiter, and a TMS320C52 16-bit fixed-point DSP to create a PC104 bus mastering platform for peripheral development. It features IEEE 1394, RS232, 16-bit PC/104 ISA, and an 8-bit isochronous interface for off board connections. A 20-pin header on the TSB12LV31 and a SW disable allows this external isochronous connection without hardware complications.

The PC/104 ISA interface allows connection to commercial off-the-shelf PC/104 slave boards enabling the user to interface between a wide variety of standard interfaces and the IEEE 1394 ports by writing software, not designing hardware. For more information about PC/104, see "www.controlled.com/pc104" on the World Wide Web.

    Software:

The software provided runs a simple text-based menu for executing simple packet transfers for testing purposes. It interfaces to the TSB12LV31 link layer controller and supports transfers between the 1394 cable interface and the ISA bus or the 8-bit isochronous port. It requires a 38.4 KBaud terminal interfaced to the TSBKGPLYNX by a standard 9-pin RS232 cable. The source code is provided to give examples of how to control the TSB12LV31 link layer controller, interface to the ISA bus and use the DMA to move volumes of data from the FIFO on the 8-bit isochronous port to the DSP's local SRAM for processing.

    TMS320C5x Development Tools
