TRF3040 Dual-Mode, Dual-Band RF Modulator/Synthesizer For Wireless Telephones
Texas Instruments' TRF3040 is an integrated RF transmit modulator/ synthesizer circuit designed for dual-mode, dual-band cellular and Personal Communications System (PCS) telephones. Features include:
- Supports AMPS analog standard operating at 900 MHz and IS-136 digital standard operating at 900 MHz and 1.9 GHz.
- 2.2-GHz fractional-N main synthesizer enables fast lock time, minimizing latency during (for faster) call handoffs and low phase noise for improved system performance during peak activity periods (power efficiency and cost savings).
- Internal fractional channel compensation minimizes spurious energy content for more power-efficient system operation.
- 200-MHz auxiliary synthesizer with prescaler supports a broad range of intermediate frequency plans.
- Serial data interface provides programmable compatibility with a variety of baseband solutions.
- Highly linear variable gain amplifier (VGA) and 900-MHz power amplifier driver enable excellent system performance with low power consumption.
- Integrated modulator and synthesizer functions reduce system component counts, size and weight.
- 48-pin thin quad flatpack (TQFP) saves space in three dimensions.
