ThunderSWITCH II TNETX4020 Gigabit Device Capable of Serving as the Uplinks to TNETX4090-Based Systems or as the Building Blocks for a Pure Gigabit Switch
Features and Speeds for Today's Networking Systems Needs
- Single-chip solution with two gigabit ports
- Both ports support Gigabit Media Independent Interface (GMII) and Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) logic
- Support for Cascade Mode to add gigabit uplinks to TNETX4090-based boxes or create multi-gigabit switches
- Supports Port Awareness Pretag for interfacing to crossbar devices
- Integrated address lookup engine to support 2048 Media Access Control (MAC) addresses
- Integrated Network Management port operating at 100-Mbps
- High-speed interface to low-cost concurrent RDRAM for 3.6-Gbytes of memory bandwidth
- Internal local packet switching - allows a packet to be internally switched without the need for external memory transfer thereby minimizing the overall switch latency
- Full or half-duplex modes of operation on all ports
- Standards compliance, including IEEE 802.3x, 802.1d, 802.1q and 802.1p improves overall network performance and assures interoperability with other equipment
- Supports on-chip Management Information Base (MIB) for storing per port statistics including Remote Monitoring (RMON)
- Integrated EEPROM interface for auto-configuration in unmanaged applications
- 2.5V core power with 3.3V-tolerant input/output interfaces to reduce power consumption
