Q: Is my Ultura LX System 7.5 or 7.5.1 compatible?
A: At this time, extensive testing has not been done with System 7.5 and later. Therefore, final compatibility results are not available. System 7.5 and later will likely remain unsupported.
Q: Where do I get software updates for my E-Machines card?
A: The latest versions of all E-Machines software are available in the Radius Software sections on America Online, eWorld, CompuServe, AppleLink, via internet at ftp.radius.com, or on the Radius BBS at (408) 541-6190.
Q: How do I check my ROM version for my display card?
A: Use the Monitors control panel to determine the ROM Version. Open the Monitors control panel and select the display attached to the Ultura card, then click the 'options' button. The information displayed will be the card name and ROM version. If no version is given, it is ROM version 1.7.2a.
Q: I'm not getting a proper image on my display. How do I configure the card to make it work with my monitor?
A: Restart your Macintosh while continuously pressing the 'option' key. This will trigger the card's "round robin" configuration mode. During the startup process, the screen will begin to cycle through different timing modes and resolutions. When a clear image appears with your desired screen resolution, release the 'option' key and press the 'space-bar' immediately. Your Macintosh will again restart and the image should now be proper.
Q: I zapped my P-RAM and now have a scrambled image on my display. How do I reset the card?
A: Restart your Macintosh while continuously pressing the 'option' key. This will trigger the card's "round robin" configuration mode. During the startup process, the screen will begin to cycle through different timing modes and resolutions. When a clear image appears with your desired screen resolution, release the 'option' key and press the 'space-bar' immediately. Your Macintosh will again restart and the image should now be proper.
Q: I thought my Ultura LX was supposed to be compatible with the Quadra 610, Quadra 660AV, and Power Macintosh 6100, but the card is way too long to fit properly. Was I wrong?
A: The Ultura LX board exists in two formats, a 7-inch board and a 12-inch board. Only the 7-inch version of the Ultura board will fit in one of these 7-inch maximum NuBus-based Macs. You will also need to purchase from an Apple reseller, one of Apple's NuBus Adapter Cards designed specifically for your model of Macintosh. If you have the 12-inch full length board, it will need to be exchanged for the 7-inch board by dialing 650-404-6400, the part number is EMG043L. Power Macintosh compatibility is covered elsewhere in this Q&A.
Q: I installed my Ultura LX into a Power Macintosh and it's not working. Do I need an upgrade?
A: Yes, the Ultura LX is Power Macintosh compatible with ROM version 3.0. ROM version 3.0 is only available for the 7-inch short length board. If you have version 2.0.2 of the 7-inch board, you will need to order the ROM v3.0 upgrade, part number #EMG043L-ROM, by dialing 800-977-7060. If you have the 12-inch full length board, the board will need to be exchanged for the 7-inch board by dialing 650-404-6400, the part number is EMG043L.
Q: I purchased the Spectrum Power DSP upgrade (model #G3630) and it does not seem to fit my card. What do I do?
A: The Spectrum Power DSP upgrade will only fit on the 7-inch version of the Ultura LX board. If you have the 12-inch full length board, the board will need to be exchanged for the 7-inch board by dialing 650-404-6400, the part number is EMG043L.
