CyberNode, a cost-effective industrial thin Internet server from Concur System Technologies, gives industrial networks the capability of acquiring data directly from sensors and measurement systems so that it can be displayed with a conventional Web browser. The server uses TI’s TMS320C32 floating-point DSP to filter, process and compress the data, preparing it for transfer through the Internet. Dubbed "Cyber Acquisition Systems," the technology is being used in traditional remote monitoring, sensing and control applications such as in-dustrial automation, environmental monitoring, traffic systems, energy metering, pipe/tank monitoring, home medical devices and other consumer and commercial systems. "The combination of DSP data collection and the thin Web server enables users to have high performance for sophisticated data processing, plus the simplicity of viewing data using standard Web browsers," said Jeff Michalski, president and founder of Concur. "CyberNode enhances the performance of systems already deployed and offers a direct return on investment in the cost of data transfer using the Internet."
