New SimpliCT diskless voice messaging from Connected Systems is quickly becoming as indispensable in small offices as fax machines or printers. Small, affordable and robust, SimpliCT supersedes PC-based voice processing solutions, cutting costs drastically by eliminating voiceboards, disks, monitors, fans and keyboards. SimpliCT integrates an embedded PC chip, standard operating system software and a TMS320C5000-series DSP that replaces the telecom and voice compression functionality of a traditional PC voiceboard. A low-cost memory chip holds up to five hours of message storage. D2 Technologies’ off-the-shelf DSP software provides telecom functions such as DTMF, call progress, voice activity detection and echo cancellation, and its voice compression technology allows efficient message storage while maintaining toll-quality voice on all audio channels. D2’s VP Open software architecture allows concurrent operation of different algorithms on multiple channels. "We could not have made this kind of breakthrough in miniaturization and cost without D2," says Anthony Bladon of Connected Systems. "D2 provided innovative voice compression technology, efficient DSP algorithms and DSP software integration expertise that no other company could provide." SimpliCT systems weigh as little as 1 kg and hang on the wall with no special ventilation requirements. With no boards to shake loose and no disk to crash, the systems improve voice processing reliability. SimpliCT is sold worldwide under a variety of OEM labels, including Bell Atlantic.
