Dear Customer/Distributor:

Texas Instruments Inc. (TI), Semiconductor Group announced on June 18, 1998, the closing of the LMOS wafer fabrication facility located in Lubbock, Texas. LMOS is scheduled for closing on December 31, 1998.

Because TI does not have a compatible process in other wafer facilities necessary to produce some of the mature Speech product families, TI is discontinuing the following parent devices which lack the demand to warrant alternative solutions. The discontinued devices include:

TSP50C44
TSP53C30A
TMS50C20

MSP50C5x Family
MSP50C51
MSP50C52
MSP50C53
MSP50P52

TSP60Cxx Family

TSP60C81
TSP50P11**

** The TSP50P11 will continue to be available in prototyping quantities only with a limit of 100 units per custom code.
