Code Composer Studio™ Integrates Industry-Leading Technologies

Code Composer Studio is a development environment that extends and integrates the capabilities of the Code Composer Integrated Development Environment (IDE), DSP/BIOS and Real-Time Data Exchange (RTDX™) technologies, and the Texas Instruments C compiler, Assembly Optimizer and linker, all within an extensible plug-in architecture.

Code Composer Studio consists of enhancements to and integration of the following:

  • Code Composer Integrated Development Environment (IDE) - Code Composer's easy-to-use IDE provides a variety of advanced tools designed to simplify the coding process and accelerate development time. The productivity enhancing features of Code Composer IDE include a debugger, editor, profiler, project manager, and C-based scripting language. The simulator, which uses the Code Composer IDE, provides cycle-accurate instruction set simulation. The simulator enables the designer to write and debug target application code before target hardware is available. The profiler, included in the simulator, is a powerful tool that allows designers to easily measure the run-time performance of their software and identify areas for further optimization.

  • DSP/BIOS and RTDX Technologies - Leveraging the RTDX and DSP/BIOS technologies, the real-time foundation allows the designer to view, configure and manipulate applications and data in real time without stopping the processor. In addition, DSP/BIOS provides an easy-to-use system configuration tool which enables earlier detection of errors and maximizes overall system resources.

  • Code Generation Tools (C compiler, Assembly Optimizer, and linker) - The 'C6000 architecture's performance is harnessed by its highly efficient C compiler and the industry's first Assembly Optimizer, permitting the programmer to chose the level of performance required. Developed in conjunction with the advanced Very-Long-Instruction-Word (VLIW) core, the compiler provides optimization features such as instruction packing, conditional branching, intrinsics, in-line assembly, and program-level optimization. The Assembly Optimizer enables the developer to write linear, RISC-like assembly code and schedules it to deliver optimum efficiency and performance.
