TI posts ‘Year 2000 Ready’ product status on the Web

Texas Instruments issued its first detailed "Year 2000 Ready" product status charts on TI’s Year 2000 Internet site ( www.ti.com/year2000) on August 31, 1998.

While TI believes most of its products are either "Year 2000 Ready" or contain no date logic, ongoing product assessments have identified minor date-display related issues associated with the Ada Linker and certain C runtime library functions in some TI DSP and microcontroller development tools. The company believes these issues are unlikely to cause a significant problem in that they only affect the display of date information under specific circumstances and not calculations or comparison of dates. Free corrective patches are scheduled to be available from September 30 through December 31, 1998 and can be downloaded from TI’s Internet site.

TI intends to use its Internet site for updates on its Year 2000 program, including results of its product assessments. TI recommends that TI customers go to www.ti.com/year2000 and take the following actions:

Review the "Year 2000 Ready" status of products you use.

Monitor TI’s Internet site periodically for updates.

For affected development tools, download corrective patches from
TI’s Internet site, as they become available.

Avoid use of specified date and time software routines in affected TI
development tools until you have installed corrective patches.

Examine software code or applications programs you may have
created using these products to determine whether they might have
Year 2000 or other date-related issues.
