Inside

2.7 V 10-bit ADCs interface directly to DSPs

Product Features

  • Wide supply voltage range (2.7 V ~ 5.5 V)
  • Glueless serial DSP & µP interface
  • Programmable power and conversion rates
  • Power-down mode (1 µA)
  • 10 µs Max conversion time (fast mode)
  • Programmable I/O clock phase
  • Multiple analog inputs - 4 TLV1544
    - 8 TLV1548
  • Available in both commercial (0°C to 70°C) or industrial -40°C to 85°C)

The TLV1544 and TLV1548 are low-power, low-voltage, 10-bit serial A/D Converters that can be connected directly to DSPs and microprocessors without glue logic.

The TLV1544 (4 analog inputs) and the TLV1548 (8 analog inputs) operate from a wide range of single-supply voltages (2.7 V to 5.5 V) in one of three software programmable power consumption modes: powered down @ 1 µA, slow @ 0.6 mA with 25 µs conversions and fast @ 1 mA with 10 µs conversions.

For easier analog system design, these devices also feature an inherent sample-and-hold function, a programmable normal or extended sampling mode, and the ability to select an analog input or one of three internally generated self test modes for conversion. The extended sampling mode allows the user to control the start and duration of the analog sample acquisition.

For easier digital system design, both devices feature a simple direct-connection 4-wire SPI™ compatible serial interface to either DSPs or microprocessors. Additional digital interface flexibility is provided by the Frame Sync input (used to indicate the start of a serial data frame) and the invert clock input (used to choose rising or falling edge of the I/O clock for inputting data).

The TLV1544 is supplied in a 16-pin SOIC (D) package while the TLV1548 is available in the 20-pin TSSOP (DB) package.
